We are pleased to welcome Dr. Lionel Smith, Lecturer in Horticulture at Myerscough College in Lancashire and the developer of the tapestry lawn concept. Dr. Smith, who earned his PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Reading, has pioneered this alternative to traditional turf by using low‑growing perennial flowering plants that form a walkable, interwoven mat of color and texture. He will present “Tapestry Lawns,” introducing the principles behind this innovative lawn style, its ecological and aesthetic benefits, and what gardeners should consider when creating one at home.
